Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are vital to Schooner Inc's achieving our mission. Your donation of time has real value, and we track volunteer hours as a means of demonstrating community support. There are plenty of opportunities for you to help. Volunteers serve as deckhands onboard the Quinnipiack and in the office with administrative tasks. Volunteers are welcome on week-days and weekends. Volunteering on the Quinnipiack As a member of the Quinnipiack's volunteer crew, you will be trained in all aspects of shipboard operations and maintenance. You will learn the art of marlinspike seamanship by a knowledgeable, professional, and experienced crew so that you can assist in everyday operations as a deckhand. During long distance voyages to distant ports, you are welcome to travel with the captain and crew enjoying the adventure of sailing on the open waters of Long Island Sound and assisting with on-board education programs. Maintenance is an on-going activity before, during and after our official sailing season. Schooner Inc benefits from a strong volunteer corps that helps keep the Quinnipiack looking her best throughout the year. Requirements:
Volunteers in the office help with mass mailings, fundraising activities, newsletters, data entry and more. If you would like to volunteer with Schooner Inc, please complete the Volunteer Application and return it to the Schooner Inc office. |
